Knowing your general health is essential in painting a complete picture of what may be causing your heart concerns.
That’s why, at your initial consultation, Dr Assomull and the team will carry out a personalised cardiovascular health assessment. This will involve a detailed review of your medical history, current symptoms, and lifestyle, followed by a tailored set of diagnostic tests designed to identify potential issues and determine if further investigation is necessary.
These tests may include essential checks such as blood pressure measurement, cholesterol profile, diabetes screening, and advanced cardiac imaging. Together, they help us form a clear picture of your heart health and identify early signs of risk before they develop into more serious conditions.
Before the appointment
Before you take part in these tests, we will need information about yourself and your medical history. We will discuss your symptoms and consider which tests may be necessary.
Please make sure you bring all relevant information to your initial consultation.
What is included in a health MOT?
Our preventative packages offer an overall heart health check and will highlight any issues you may be experiencing. These packages will include:
Height, weight and waist measurements
We will note your BMI and body measurements to assess whether you are underweight, overweight, or obese. If your weight is unhealthy, this can put you at risk of a heart condition.
Blood pressure
We will use a blood pressure machine to check your blood pressure levels in both arms. High or low blood pressure can indicate further health issues, including those related to the heart.
Blood tests
We will check the amount of glucose (sugar) in the blood and investigate whether you are at risk of diabetes with a blood test.
If you have already been diagnosed with diabetes, we will also assess how well you are managing it and whether your treatment plan or lifestyle habits need to be improved.
We will evaluate your blood sugar and other blood fats with a blood test. Levels that are too low or high can put you at risk of other heart issues.
Electrocardiogram
We will check the heart’s electrical activity and detect any issues with its rhythm and beat.
We will also perform other tests such as:
