The pillar of treatment for DCM is tablet therapy. We typically use four different categories of medications. These include ACE inhibitors, beta blockers, SGLT2 inhibitors, and another group of medications called aldosterone antagonists.
In those patients where the DCM is severe and they meet criteria, other treatments with an ICD or cardiac resynchronisation therapy device, which is a form of special pacemaker, may also have a role.
