Some people with HCM may need an ICD. This is a special kind of pacemaker that can actually shock you out of a dangerous heart rhythm. Not everyone with HCM will need an ICD.

We will need to perform tests to see if you are at high risk of sudden death. And if you are, then an ICD would be entirely appropriate.
